Neuralgia is a medical term used to describe severe, shooting or stabbing pain that occurs along the path of a nerve. It is typically caused by irritation or damage to a nerve, leading to abnormal signaling and the sensation of pain. Neuralgia can affect any nerve in the body, but it most commonly occurs in the head, face, and neck.
The most common type of neuralgia is trigeminal neuralgia, which affects the trigeminal nerve responsible for sensation in the face. Trigeminal neuralgia can cause intense, sharp facial pain that may be triggered by simple activities such as eating, talking, or even touching the face.
An example from real life, on the left is a photo of Vladimir, an engineer of the MESOFORM team who is involved in the development. During exacerbation of trigeminal neuralgia and after the procedure with MESOFORM THERAPEUTIC. During the neuralgia attack, there was a very strong shooting pain in the temple, abundant lacrimation, the eyelid drooped, the strength of the pain did not allow him to perform any duties, each jolt of pain was crooking his face. Two procedures were performed with MESOFORM, the result is shown in the adjacent photo. The pain went away, the tearing stopped, the eye and face took on a normal appearance.
